HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- After 22 years of operating in High Point, N.C., Enterprise Rent-A-Car is adding jobs and investing in a new neighborhood rental office at 1539 North Main Street. The new location will occupy a former used car facility that has been vacant for more than two years.
"Enterprise's new site will help enhance this vibrant, mixed-use community by providing easy access to affordable and sustainable transportation options," said John Valas, Enterprise's regional vice president of western North Carolina.
The new High Point facility will become part of Enterprise's unique neighborhood network, consisting of more than 5,500 fully staffed branch offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. It will operate not only as a key provider of short-term vehicle rentals for insurance replacement, weekend getaways and special occasions, but also as a local transportation alternative.
In fact, Enterprise has been delivering local transportation alternatives since 1957. Forty years later, it trademarked the term Virtual Car®, after recognizing the long-term impact of such a sustainable neighborhood-based business model.
With that legacy in mind, the company also provides low-cost, environmentally sustainable transportation through its Enterprise CarShare program, including four vehicles at nearby High Point University. This service offers access to vehicles at a convenient campus location and helps meet the short-term transportation needs of High Point University students, faculty, and staff.
"With our new Main Street location, we will be equipped to promote and support High Point's long-term economic prosperity," said Valas. "This location also positions us closer to the new Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as to hotels and corporate customers in the area."
Enterprise's $100,000 investment will improve the building's appearance as well as its functionality – and additional local employees will be hired as a result of the move. Enterprise's hiring, expansion and investments in High Point reflect the company's overarching commitment to implementing economically sustainable business practices in the communities in which it operates.
"We always appreciate the support of visionary city leaders who recognize local car rental and car sharing as critical links in the transportation value chain – regardless of whether rentals are for an hour, a day, or a week," Valas noted. "And we look forward to working together with local residents, business partners and government officials, all in an effort to make High Point's Main Street District as successful as possible."
