ST. LOUIS, June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Holdings Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Pam Nicholson has received a Glassdoor Employees' Choice Award, which recognizes the Highest Rated CEOs for 2017. Enterprise Holdings employees voted Nicholson in at No. 21, making her the highest-ranking woman among the 100 chief executives recognized by Glassdoor.
Glassdoor, one of the world's largest and fastest growing job sites, released its annual report this week. When employees submit reviews about their employers on Glassdoor, they are asked to rate various factors about their employment experience. As part of these ratings, employees also are asked to rate whether they approve, disapprove or are neutral about the performance of their CEO.
A 36-year veteran of the company, Nicholson began her car rental career in 1981 as part of the Enterprise Management Training Program, after graduating from the University of Missouri. Since that time, she served as Regional Vice President in Southern California, Corporate Vice President at Enterprise's worldwide headquarters in St. Louis, and General Manager in New York before moving back to St. Louis to act as Senior Vice President of North American Operations in 1999. Nicholson accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2003, was appointed president in 2008 and was ultimately promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 2013.
Nicholson is the highest-ranking woman in the car rental industry and the global travel industry and has been one of Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Women in Business (MPW) for the past 10 years. Under her leadership, Enterprise Holdings – which operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand, as well as the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands – grew its revenue in fiscal year 2016 by more than 8 percent to $20.9 billion and expanded its network to include more than 9,600 fully staffed locations. Combined, Enterprise, National and Alamo customers log more than 25 billion miles throughout the world every year.
No. 1 Entry-Level Employer
Enterprise Holdings' integrated global network of independent regional subsidiaries employs more than 97,000 people worldwide. Employees who take part in the company's Management Training program have a chance to advance their careers quickly, thanks in large part to the thorough preparation they receive as well as the company's award-winning practices in workplace training and development.
With a breadth of job opportunities and business functions to support the company's operations, Enterprise Holdings offers employees the opportunity to switch careers without switching companies. Also, the company's promote-from-within culture is a driving force behind its need to recruit thousands of innovative, college-educated individuals each year. In 2016, more than 16,000 Enterprise, National and Alamo employees were promoted or took on new challenges in various positions throughout the world, contributing to new opportunities for existing management trainees and the need to add even more talented employees.
In fact, more than 7,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations throughout the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the U.K. plan to hire a total of nearly 10,000 college graduates into their Management Training Program in 2017. As a result, this year CollegeGrad.com ranked Enterprise the No. 1 Entry-Level Employer for the 10th time.
