ST. LOUIS, Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Been behind the wheel of an Enterprise CarShare vehicle lately? Recent business results from the company indicate that the answer is likely "yes." Over the past year alone, Enterprise CarShare reports its membership has increased by almost 100 percent and has launched more than 30 new programs in North America. Additionally, the acquisitions of AutoShare in Toronto and OccasionalCar in Denver have added to the company's growth in the past year.
Today, the service is available in more than 35 U.S. states, Canada and the U.K., on nearly 100 university campuses and through 40 dedicated government and business accounts.
As its business expands, Enterprise CarShare is also rolling out a program enhancement to help its members use the service, particularly while on the go. The newly released Enterprise CarShare app for iPhone and Android users enables U.S. members to make or modify reservations, extend rentals and choose pickup locations, all from their mobile phone.
"Enterprise CarShare offers consumers a cost-effective alternative to car ownership, and as our growth numbers show, that has great appeal for many of today's drivers," said Ryan Johnson, vice president overseeing Enterprise's CarShare, Rideshare and Zimride operations. "We anticipate continued interest in transportation sharing in the years ahead, and we're confident that Enterprise CarShare is well-positioned for further expansion."
During the past year, Enterprise CarShare expanded its presence in such major markets as New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Toronto and Denver. The service also recently launched in Honolulu – making it the only public car-sharing service on the island of Oahu – and launched new programs on 25 college campuses this fall, including Emory University, the University of Kansas and the University of Wisconsin's Green Bay, La Crosse, Oshkosh, River Falls and Stout campuses.
