Entergy Crews Continue Restoring Service During Tropical Storm Lee
NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Entergy linemen continue repairing damage caused by Tropical Storm Lee as the center of the storm moved ashore Sunday, hitting southern Louisiana and Mississippi with more heavy rains and winds. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, 6,149 Entergy customers in Louisiana and 609 in Mississippi were without power.
The overall and local outage numbers are likely to fluctuate throughout the day on Sunday, as storm bands from Lee wash over the region and it continues its slow move north. High winds, lightning and flooding could possibly hamper restoration efforts.
Entergy crews and contractors are restoring outages as quickly and safely as possible when weather conditions permit. Crews are unable to work in bucket trucks when winds reach a sustained speed above 35 miles per hour.
The company reminds customers to stay away from downed power lines and to call 1-800-9OUTAGE toll-free to report electric or gas outages. Customers can also visit the Entergy Storm Center website at entergystormcenter.com for the latest updates and outage information.
Entergy urges customers to monitor the storm and to prepare to implement their own storm plans if needed.
Additionally, the company has prepared for customers a severe weather guide that contains a wealth of information related to preparing for a storm. Operation: Storm Ready can be accessed at entergystormcenter.com.
