Enterasys Networks Closes 2011 With Product Innovation, Market Growth, and Technology Leadership
Innovation, New and Refreshed Product Lines Drive Eight Consecutive Quarters of Growth
ANDOVER, Mass., Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterasys Networks, a Siemens Enterprise Communications company, today announced that 2011 was its most successful year in recent history due to product innovations, consistent market growth and new customers. Enterasys ended the year with eight consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue growth and Q2 of 2011 was the company's best quarter since 2004. Enterasys' success can be attributed to important launches such as Enterasys OneFabric™ and Enterasys isaac, among others, which have helped drive a 21 percent increase in new customers over fiscal year 2010.
"In this uncertain economy, we are thrilled by our success in 2011, which can be attributed to strong innovation with solutions such as Enterasys OneFabric, the industry's first unified network fabric to span from the data center to the wired and wireless edge, and Enterasys isaac, our new solution that enables IT organizations to use social media to communicate with the IP network," said Chris Crowell, CEO of Enterasys Networks. "As we look forward to 2012 and beyond, this vision for the market, along with our strong portfolio of switching and routing, wireless, and security solutions, will continue to drive growth and market leadership as we help customers solve their most pressing problems, such as managing today's dynamic, virtualized data center."
The highlights for Enterasys in fiscal year 2011 were many:
- Enterasys grew six times faster than the overall networking market this year
- Enterasys acquired a record number of new customers, totaling a 21 percent increase over fiscal year 2010

New Products Drive Innovation, Growth
Over the past two years, Enterasys has refreshed its entire portfolio of products. With Enterasys OneFabric, Enterasys announced the industry's first unified network fabric to span from the data center to the wired and wireless edge. The unique fabric computing architecture allows enterprises to provision the network end-to-end with consistent performance and enhanced security for business-critical applications, all managed from a single pane of glass. In conjunction with OneFabric, Enterasys launched the new OneFabric Ready Alliance Program and the OneFabric Channel Support Initiatives.
In 2012, Enterasys will offer customers flexible entry points to deploy OneFabric without requiring a rip-and-replace of existing network infrastructure. Customers are able to identify their immediate infrastructure needs and implement one or more OneFabric solutions, including: OneFabric Data Center, OneFabric Edge, or OneFabric Security. Unlike competing fabric solutions, OneFabric is able to coexist with existing infrastructure investments while providing incremental value. Enterasys innovation on integration with VMware and Citrix has positively changed our data center users to benefit from OneFabric architecture and derive higher ROI on their server virtualization efforts.
"As we continued to virtualize our environment, while also becoming more highly mobile, we struggled to manage each virtual machine and device with its own set of provisioning and security requirements. Enterasys Data Center Manager, now integrated in OneFabricControl Center, provides us the automation necessary to appropriately provision and secure each device," said Michael Proft, IT director for the University Hospital Leipzig. "Providing that level of automation and visibility across the entire network is imperative to manage the changing and ever-evolving nature of our network."
Other product lines will also provide new growth opportunities in 2012. Enterasys isaac builds on the company's record of innovation providing social media integration that will allow IT to control the network via today's social networks (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and SalesForce.com Chatter). Furthermore, over the past year, Enterasys has announced new models of the Enterasys S-Series modular switching line, the new K-Series, ideal for cost conscious customers expecting superior modular switching performance, and refreshed versions of the Enterasys A/B/C-Series stackable switching solutions. All the while, Enterasys provides customers with management technology (Enterasys NetSight) that differentiates the company from the competition.
"Our experience in managing a dynamic, virtualized environment helped us understand and plan for the challenges associated with building our new data center," said Charles Desourdy, associate CIO for UMass Medical School. "Enterasys solutions provide us with an integrated and comprehensive view of our physical and virtual environment, with the ability to keep track of applications as they move from server to server. This type of visibility greatly reduces the time we need to spend reconfiguring the network and coordinating changes across the IT team, freeing us to focus on higher priority projects such as new application roll-outs. Enterasys has consistently proven to be a vendor we can rely on to provide leading edge technology and support."
