ENR Editor-in-Chief Jan Tuchman Wins Service Award from the Beavers
NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Construction's ENR (http://enr.construction.com) today announced that the publication's editor-in-chief, Jan Tuchman, has been honored by industry association the Beavers as the recipient of its 2014 award for service to the construction industry. The Beavers awards recognize individuals for their achievements and contributions to the heavy construction industry in the categories of management, supervision, and engineering, and service and supply. Founded in 1955, the Beavers is a social, honorary and educational group of engineering and construction companies and individuals who work in heavy civil engineering and construction.
Jan was selected for the award based on her excellent stewardship of ENR, guiding it into the digital era and bringing the construction industry valuable news and data, as well as her continuing involvement in industry organizations. Jan is the third ENR editor to receive this award, joining Pacific Coast editor Nathan Bowers (1956, and the first year of the awards), and editor-in-chief Art Fox, Jr. (1988). Fellow award recipients place Jan in great company, with Scott Lynn, former CEO of Atkinson Construction, winning the management award, Scott Hanson, of Scott Hanson Consulting, winning for supervision, and F. Dave Zanetell of Edward Kraemer & Sons, winning for engineering.
"It's wonderful to be recognized by such a prominent heavy and civil industry organization. It is really a tribute to the value that ENR brings to construction professionals," said Tuchman. "ENR's work is complementary with the Beavers' mission of recognition, integrity and representing the industry to the next generation of construction professionals," added Jan. "This award gives tribute to this common purpose. Many thanks to the awards committee, the Beavers' leadership and the talented ENR editorial and business staff members who make it all possible."
The Golden Beaver awards were presented on January 17 at a black-tie gala in Los Angeles that attracted more than 2,100 attendees, featuring legendary college basketball coach Bobby Knight as a guest speaker.
