HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Eni Norge relies on Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise solutions for owner operators for one of the most challenging projects in the Barents Sea, a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean, located north of Norway and Russia. Goliat is the first oil field to be developed in the Barents Sea, and therefore sets the industry standard as activity migrates ever farther north. Eni Norge chose to develop the field using the Sevan 1000 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Goliat FPSO is built and equipped to meet high standards linked to built-in safety and a healthy working environment adapted to the challenging and harsh climatic conditions in the Barents Sea.

Eni Norge sought in Intergraph tools a suited solution that could provide the reliable and accurate engineering data needed for the platform to perform. Eni Norge will use SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators Core, Operating Plant, Validation, Transformation and Loading (VTL), as well as SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Instrumentation and SmartPlant P&ID to optimize its plant operations and manage all tag/document information and synchronization in conjunction with SAP.
Eni valued the effective and consistent management of documents provided by Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise solutions, with auditable traceability that is essential to safety, to demonstrate regulatory compliance and to manage the vast numbers of documents generated in a complex process facility. The operational phase of the Goliat project will last for at least 15 years once the field comes on stream in 2014.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "Eni has been an Intergraph customer for many years. The fact that Eni Norge chose Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise solutions for one of its most challenging projects inspires us to ensure technology works as a strong and reliable ally in the toughest conditions."
Leading plant owners choose SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators to enable them to rapidly implement Intergraph's preconfigured business processes to support both CAPEX and OPEX phases of the plant life cycle. SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators is specifically designed for asset owners to enhance plant safety, reliability, and interoperability, while ensuring information integrity across the owner operator system landscape.
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph as the No. 1 overall worldwide provider of engineering design solutions for industry according to its "Engineering Design Tools for Industry and Infrastructure Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast Through 2016."
