Enhanced Security and Management in Latest Version of Faronics Application Whitelisting Solution
SAN RAMON, Calif., Feb. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Faronics, an industry leader in cost reducing IT solutions, today announced the release of Anti-Executable 4. The latest version of the award-winning application whitelisting software offers improved flexibility for administrators and users controlling workstations and servers. There is also expanded reporting and visibility for files and applications. Anti-Executable halts even the most advanced malware threats, such as zero day and targeted attacks including spear phishing, by only allowing approved applications to run on a computer. Any other programs - whether they are unwanted, unlicensed, or simply unnecessary - are blocked from ever executing.
Included in the release is Faronics Identifile, a feature that checks files against a signature database and reports on manufacturer name, file hash, version, and whether the file is malicious. This facilitates improved workstation protection through a stronger understanding of files and their properties.
The new Temporary Execution Mode (TEM) feature allows unrestricted file execution for a specific time period based on users' need. Users now have more flexibility to manage special projects or use specific programs without any whitelist restrictions. The TEM Reporting feature allows users to run a report on executed programs during Temporary Execution Mode. This amplifies the visibility and recognition of user actions during TEM. Finally the ability to now control .dll files allows for expanded control over workstation security.
"Despite increasing validation of application whitelisting over traditional IT security approaches, some IT professionals are still hesitant due to scalability and operational limitations," said Carlos Santamaria, Product Manager of Anti-Executable. "With version 4, Anti-Executable has strengthened its security and functionality, confirming its position as a leading application whitelisting solution that is secure and easy to manage."
The evolution of malware has strengthened the need for endpoint security beyond traditional anti-virus. Anti-Executable's whitelisting technology provides an essential additional layer of defense between Faronics Anti-Virus and the ultimate system restore protection of Deep Freeze.
