England Logistics Becomes U.S. EPA SmartWay(SM) Transport Partner
SALT LAKE CITY, June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- England Logistics announced today it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a SmartWay(SM) Transport Partner. The SmartWay(SM) Transport Partner program helps transportation companies calculate their environmental performance and set improvement goals designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.
By joining the Partnership, England Logistics demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility. With initiatives to promote energy efficiency and air quality within the freight transportation sector, England Logistics will contribute to the Partnership's savings of 1.5 billion gallons of fuel, $3.6 billion in fuel costs, 14.7 MMT of carbon dioxide (CO2), 215,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and 8,000 tons of particulate matter.
"For the past 14 years we've helped our carrier base reduce fuel waste through optimizing driving routes, energy efficient tire purchase assistance, fuel card programs, and many other successful initiatives," said Josh England, President of England Logistics. "But now, as a SmartWay(SM) Transport Partner, we are an active vehicle of change for one of the largest sustainable freight transportation movements in the world. That makes us very proud."
As an international third party logistics (3PL) provider, England Logistics has people in over 100 offices throughout the US and China. With such a broad reach England Logistics can ensure that SmartWay(SM) values are represented on an international scale.
England Logistics will begin to provide information to actively help other carriers become SmartWay(SM) Transport Partners. "Education for the public and closer alignment with other SmartWay(SM) Transport Partners will play a key role in the group's ability to reduce the transportation industry's environmental impact," remarked Jeff VanWagoner, Director of Special Projects Engineering.
