Mojo Desktop 3D Printer Enables In-house Prototyping for Contest Winner
MINNEAPOLIS and REHOVOT, Israel, Feb. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Desktop Engineering and Stratasys (Nasdaq: SSYS) have crowned a winner of the second Rapid Ready Sweepstakes, awarding Joe Lutgen, owner of RSI Mechanical LLC, in Costa Mesa, Calif., a Mojo Desktop 3D Printer.

Lutgen, a mechanical design engineer and consultant, regularly uses 3D printed models to conceptualize designs in the medical device, aerospace and automotive sectors. He will use the Mojo Desktop 3D print pack to kick-off an in-house 3D printing service to produce customer concepts and prototypes, overnight.
The annual Rapid Ready Sweepstakes is open to engineers, educators and designers in the United States, who have a professional need for producing concept models, functional prototypes or manufacturing tools. Desktop Engineering chose the contest winner in a random drawing late 2013.
The Mojo Desktop 3D Printer is helping Lutgen and RSI Mechanical respond to the growing demand from clients for quicker turn-around in producing 3D printed prototypes.
"Creating a 3D printed prototype took three to four days to complete when I outsourced projects," said Lutgen. "I will use the 3D printer to speed up the process by bringing it in-house. I'm marketing the company's new capability as described by the Mojo tagline: 'The printer is an idea engine.' Now I have no excuses but to create."
In addition to his professional ventures, using the Mojo Desktop 3D printer has become a family event within Lutgen's household, where he encourages his sons to get creative, with the hope they will get excited about modeling and 3D printing.
The Mojo Desktop 3D Printer is part of the Stratasys Idea Series and uses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) to create prototypes. The prize pack, valued at $9,900, includes a desktop 3D printer, a startup supply of materials and bases, the Mojo Print Wizard and Control Panel software and the WaveWash 55 support removal system.
