The funding is going to 125 organizations including Salvation Army, the Family Resource Centers Association, The Home Front Cares and Catholic Charities. It also helps increase the average benefit families receive from the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP).
Energy Outreach Colorado plans to distribute a record $9.97 million in quarterly payments during the coming year to help more limited-income Coloradans remain warm and safe in their homes.
"Since 1989 we have served as a safety net for low-income families and seniors who can't keep up with their energy bills, particularly during Colorado's chilly winter months," said Skip Arnold, executive director at Energy Outreach Colorado. "We partner with many community-based organizations to ease the worry and sacrifice that people go through when they are faced with choosing between home heat and other basic necessities."
EOC is the only nonprofit in Colorado that raises funds for energy bill payment assistance, as well as energy efficiency upgrades for affordable housing and nonprofit facilities. More information is available at www.EnergyOutreach.org.
