Energy Law Firm of Burleson Cooke Opens Office in San Antonio
Location will focus on serving companies in Eagle Ford Shale play
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The energy law firm of Burleson Cooke announced the opening of a new office in San Antonio that will focus on serving companies with interests in the Eagle Ford Shale play.
The move comes on the heels of a significant expansion of the firm's Pittsburgh office – which opened in late 2009 and supports oil and gas companies working in the Marcellus Shale region – and further underscores Burleson Cooke's expertise in the area of unconventional oil and gas plays.
Michael Browning, who is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, will serve as managing counsel of the San Antonio office, which is located at 1777 NE Loop 410, Suite 600.
"As a Texas-based firm with significant experience in the Eagle Ford play – and every other major U.S. shale play – this seemed like a logical step for us," said managing partner Rick Burleson. "We've got a strong background working with companies in unconventional formations, and we have been consistently adding to the capabilities we offer them. We look forward to bringing that full range of skills and service to this region."
Located in South Texas, the Eagle Ford shale play may hold 19 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Because of the geographic structure of the formation, the gas is easier to access, and drilling is less expensive.
In addition to work related to the Marcellus and Eagle Ford plays, Burleson Cooke's experience includes the Barnett, Haynesville, Fayetteville, Woodford, and Bakken shale formations.
Browning concentrates his practice in the areas of oil and gas law. He has rendered numerous title opinions – including drilling title opinions, division order title opinions, leasehold title opinions, and acquisition title opinions – throughout Texas, including the Barnett and Eagle Ford plays.
He has also advised clients on oil, gas and mineral title issues; pooling and unitization; community leases; undivided mineral ownership; and leasehold estates. Additionally, he has prepared oil and gas leases, amendments, assignments, ratifications, mineral and royalty deeds, and operating agreements.
