DALLAS, June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the destructive flooding and severe spring storms in Texas and Oklahoma, Energy Future Holdings has donated more than $25,000 to the American Red Cross's disaster relief efforts.
In addition to a corporate donation, the company activated a Red Cross microsite to give employees an easy way to donate to recovery efforts and to support the organization's first-ever National Giving Day. EFH's support also extends to the Red Cross's global network to provide aid to those in Nepal and other areas affected by natural disasters.
"With the recent devastating floods in Texas and Oklahoma, we know that the recovery can take a lot of time and an incredible amount of resources," said Kelli Rod, vice president of community affairs for EFH. "We activated our Red Cross microsite because we know our employees have concerns for our customers and neighbors around Texas, and for communities around the world."
"Especially now, as the American Red Cross responds to historic flood and tornado devastation across the state of Texas, we appreciate our longtime partnership with Energy Future Holdings and are grateful for their generosity as presenting sponsor of the inaugural Red Cross Giving Day - another history-making event," said T.D. Smyers, American Red Cross North Texas Region CEO.
"We've worked with Red Cross for years," Rod said. "We know that the dollars they receive will provide assistance to those who need it most."
