Energy, Environment and Safety on the Agenda at SAE International 2011 Government/Industry Meeting
WARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "Navigating change in a dynamic environment" is the theme for the 2011 SAE International Government/Industry Meeting, set for Jan. 26-28 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) will serve as Honorary Chair of the event, which is co-located with the 2011 Washington Auto Show. Karl Simon, Director, Compliance and Innovative Strategies Division, Office of Transportation and Air Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is General Chair of the event; and host organization is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The SAE Government/Industry Meeting brings together the leading technical authorities from government, industry and academia in a neutral forum to discuss the regulation, legislation and technical issues impacting the future of transportation, energy conservation, the environment, and safety.
This year's agenda features:
- Plenary session talking about new technologies and fuels coming to the nation's transportation systems and how market competition as well as regulatory and legislative mandates will impact customers – the panel will feature Ron Medford, Deputy Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
- Luncheon speech on Thursday, Jan. 27 by David Champion, Senior Director of Automotive Testing, Consumer Reports
In addition, the technical program will include the following topics:

- New technologies, electric vehicles
- Motor vehicle safety
- Crash avoidance studies and technologies
