Endowment Index® Bests S&P 500 Index for 2nd Quarter of 2015

APPLETON, Wis., July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Endowment Index® calculated by Nasdaq OMX® increased 0.52% (on a total return basis) for the 3 months ended June 30, 2015.  This compared to the S&P 500, which gained 0.28% for the same period. Year-to-date, the Endowment Index® has gained 3.45%, vs. 1.23% for the S&P 500.

Eight of the index's 19 components provided a positive return for the quarter.  With the largest component of the gains provided by private equity, equity-emerging market/China, equity-international developed, and equity-emerging markets/diversified. Of the 11 components that posted a negative return during the quarter, the three components whose underperformance most impacted the index's performance were domestic real estate, hedge strategies, and oil and gas.
