Endgame Machine Learning Engine Featured in VirusTotal
Signature-Less Endpoint Prevention and Detection Proven to Anticipate Latest Attacker Innovations
ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Endgame, a leading endpoint security platform closing the protection gap against advanced attacks, today announced the integration of its machine learning malware engine, MalwareScore™, into VirusTotal's file scanning service. VirusTotal, a subsidiary of Google, is a free service that analyzes suspicious files and URLs to facilitate the quick detection of viruses, worms, trojans, and other kinds of malicious content. Inclusion in VirusTotal exposes to the broader community an important component of Endgame's layered defense, deepening Endgame's commitment to openness and transparency.
VirusTotal users will now have access to Endgame's proprietary machine learning engine that provides customers with detection and prevention of known and unknown malware. The engine will provide VirusTotal users with Endgame's determination of benign vs. malicious for submitted files, along with a confidence category for detected malware. Endgame's malware classifier is effective in detecting both well known but also never-before-seen malicious samples.
"Endgame is honored to contribute to the broader security community through its participation in VirusTotal," said Jamie Butler, CTO at Endgame. "The powerful malware detection and prevention engine we are contributing to VirusTotal is a key piece in preventing advanced attacks. Layered with other Endgame behavioral protections against exploitation, attacker techniques, and fileless attacks, customers stop advanced attacks before information is stolen or systems disrupted. We are pleased to share our malware detection technology to benefit the community and end-users."
Endgame's partnership with VirusTotal comes after a recent announcement that Endgame achieved 100% detection and zero percent false positive rates on Independent Antivirus Certification by SE Labs. Endgame also recently joined the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO) in order to help establish modern standards for the next generation of anti-malware testing.
