Employees Desire Flexible Payroll Solutions, Work Schedules
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Employees desire flexibility from their payroll technologies and at work, according to results from the 2014 "Getting Paid In America" survey conducted by the American Payroll Association. Technologies such as employee self-service portals give workers the option to access their pay and benefits information almost anywhere they have Internet access.
"Many workforce management technology solutions support mobile devices for time tracking and we expect more and more workers, especially the always-connected millennial, to use this functionality in the future," said Joyce Maroney, Director of The Workforce Institute at Kronos.
The annual "Getting Paid In America" survey asked respondents "How do you prefer to access your employee self-service portal?" Over 33 percent of respondents indicated that they access their online portals via laptop computer, tablet computer or smart phone.
"While many employees are accessing their pay and benefits information from their computer, we'll continue to see a shift in the number of employees turning to their mobile devices for this information," said Mike Gioja, Paychex senior vice president, IT, product management and development.
Employees also value flexibility in their work schedule. When asked "Which 'benefit' is the most important to you at work," nearly 23 percent of respondents indicated that they value a flexible schedule, second only to health insurance.
The "Getting Paid In America" survey was held in conjunction with APA's annual public awareness campaign, National Payroll Week (NPW). Over 27,000 employees responded to the survey, providing insight into how workers are paid in America. For complete results, visit www.nationalpayrollweek.com.
