Employees Confident Their Paychecks Are Accurate

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ninety-three percent of employees are confident their paycheck is accurate, according to the 2014 "Getting Paid In America" survey recently conducted by the American Payroll Association. The result is slightly up from 2013 survey results.

"Payroll professionals contribute, collect, report, and deposit nearly $2 trillion annually, which equates to almost 70% of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury," said Dermot O'Brien, chief human resources officer for ADP.  "The ability of these professionals to stay on top of the growing complexity of regulation and compliance and the ongoing support of innovation in payroll technology and practices by the APA help ensure that employee paychecks are delivered pay period after pay period with an extremely high level of accuracy."

The "Getting Paid In America" survey by the APA asked "How certain are you that your payroll withholding and the net amount of your paycheck are correct each payday?"  In response, 25,211 of 27,071 survey participants said they are very confident or confident their paycheck is correct each payday.  This is a one-percent increase from the 2013 "Getting Paid In America" survey results of 92 percent on the same question.

"This year's survey results reflect the consistently high employee confidence in the accuracy of their paychecks," said Dan Maddux, executive director of the APA. "Our nation's payroll professionals continue their fantastic work of ensuring America's workers are paid accurately and on-time."

The "Getting Paid In America" survey coincides with APA's annual public awareness campaign, National Payroll Week (NPW), held annually during the week of Labor Day.
