eMoney Community Crew Sends a Little Piece of Home to Overseas Troops
LA JOLLA, Calif., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- eMoney Advisor ("eMoney"), a leading provider of advanced wealth planning solutions for financial advisors, has announced that the La Jolla office hosted their first Military Appreciation Event in partnership with USO San Diego to assemble and send 100 care packages to active U.S. military members stationed overseas.
On Sunday, March 9, eMoney employees gathered at the La Jolla office after collecting several items that the troops requested, including: snacks, lip balm, hand sanitizer, deodorant, socks and playing cards. These everyday items – ones that people often take for granted – are not easily accessible overseas and provide a sense of comfort. Because San Diego has such a strong military presence, eMoney thinks it is important to support and give back to that community.
"We couldn't be more proud and humbled by the military men and women who are currently overseas, so we wanted to send them a little piece of 'home' and show our appreciation for their service. Establishing a relationship with USO San Diego allowed us to send these care packages," said eMoney West Coast Director of Operations Holly Parente. "This event is part of a larger effort spearheaded by our CEO Edmond Walters to kick-start our latest initiative – the eMoney Community Crew (ECC) – and work together to support causes that we are passionate about."
This is the latest endeavor in the firms' ongoing commitment to veterans. Additionally, last January eMoney participated in a fundraising benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project by auctioning off camouflage hockey jerseys worn by Philadelphia Flyers and Calgary Roughnecks players at a game. Additionally, eMoney sponsored the Be a Hero-Hire a Hero Career Expo in December 2012 at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center to help qualified veterans and their family members find employment. eMoney also has plans to participate in an annual 5K run to benefit this organization in the upcoming weeks.
