Energy costs are rising and legislation is changing - this presents a huge financial challenge for organisations. With participants including EDF Energy, Bouygues Energies & Services, Cofely GDF-Suez, nPower, SSE Enterprise, Schneider Electrics, and BIFM.
EMEX is the event to attend if you are responsible for reducing your organisation's energy spend and consumption.
EMEX is a free to attend annual event that takes place at ExCeL, London on 11 and 12 November 2015. Organised in partnership with the Energy Managers Association (EMA), EMEX has exclusive content in four educational seminar theatres including case studies, research, expert presentations and a first look at important legislative changes. Many sessions are CPD accredited. Each of the seminar theatres will focus on a key industry topic: Energy Management as a Profession, Utilities & Energy Services, Energy Use in the Built Environment and Energy Management Solutions.
EMEX exhibitors range from major utilities to brokers and consultants, equipment manufacturers to training companies. Whatever the size of your business there is opportunity to find out more about wise energy consumption. A jam-packed event programme offers valuable industry insights, and looks at the latest and upcoming legislative changes and how these are affecting businesses in the UK - all key to understanding the risk, regulation and opportunities of being an energy consumer.
EMEX continues to cut red tape and provides all attendees with a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from DECC, the Environment Agency and HM Treasury. At the Summer Budget the Chancellor announced a review of business energy efficiency taxes and associated regulations. This review seeks to identify opportunities to simplify the policy landscape and identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the regime in achieving government policy objectives. Nico Heslop, Deputy Director, Energy & Transport Tax at HM Treasury, will be at EMEX to hear your feedback.
By the time EMEX opens its' doors in November, organisations will have only 3 weeks to ascertain whether they are affected by the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and to carry out an assessment. Jo Scully, Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Project Manager at The Environment Agency will be at EMEX all day to discuss ESOS progress, take FAQs from visitors and present the second phase with the implementation of all the measures identified during the compulsory assessment.
Furthermore, this year at EMEX, you will gain greater insights into all major energy saving initiatives in the public sector. EMEX will host the Public Sector Sustainability Award ceremony run by the IPSEM (Institute of Public Sector Estates Management) on 12 November. EMEX will also reveal how major energy users in the public sector such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew or the Department of Energy & Climate Change who have successfully deployed the Mayor of London's award-winning scheme RE:FIT which provides a commercial model for public bodies wishing to achieve substantial financial cost savings, improve the energy performance of their buildings and reduce their CO2 footprint.
Across the two days, EMEX will provide visitors with a series of case studies where leading practitioners will share their knowledge and expertise across a broad range of topics and industries such as behavioural change with the Environmental Manager at Barts Health NHS Trust and the Risk Management & Sustainability Advisor at The Ambassador Theatre Group; Staff training with the Energy Manager at Network Railway, the innovative use of natural resources with the Group Environmental & Sustainability Engineer at Wabtec Group; reducing heating costs with the Head of the Environment Services at Lincolnshire County Council; and

In association with of The Energy Managers Association, Lord Redesdale will present the new Junior Energy Manager Apprenticeship standard as well as other professional trainings and standards available for anyone seeking to further their career and to acquire energy management skills. The EMA will also launch at EMEX, the Empowering Women into Energy and Environment Group, aiming to raise the level of awareness and understanding of this very rewarding career amongst those facing future career choices, and helping women to navigate what still remains a men's world.
