HOUSTON, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- EMEX, LLC, the largest privately held energy consulting and risk management firm in North America, has partnered with the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas in successfully obtaining a reduction in energy costs amounting to millions of dollars in savings over the next decade for the Kickapoo Reservation, located in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Comprised of numerous establishments, including medical facilities, community structures, schools and a casino, the Kickapoo Reservation consumes over 30 million kWh annually. Understanding the substantial energy usage of the Reservation and that electricity prices are close to a 10-year low, Kickapoo looked to take advantage of current conditions and secure a long term energy rate that spans into 2027. Kickapoo further leveraged an aggressively low market by utilizing the EMEX Reverse Auction to create an ideal purchasing opportunity. As expected, the event attracted several highly competitive suppliers who submitted bids and counter-bids until the best prices in the market were uncovered through the EMEX Reverse Auction. Once the auction was complete, the Kickapoo Reservation achieved the lowest possible market price from suppliers, and ultimately selected an 8.75 year term with a large energy supplier from North Texas.
"The EMEX Reverse Auction could not have been easier and we were absolutely thrilled with the price we received," says Janice Clark, Purchasing Manager for the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. "EMEX went above and beyond to assist us with all of our specific needs throughout the entire process to ensure we achieved maximum value."
With the recent acquisition of Texas Energy Aggregation, EMEX has rapidly enhanced and expanded its presence in the Texas government and commercial markets, leading to its collaboration with Lee Washington, the EMEX consulting expert that serviced the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas and helped achieve millions in savings.
"By carefully analyzing their needs and energy usage patterns, we were able to help the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas negotiate specific contractual terms that best fit its growing community and that serve the needs of its tribal members. We look forward to serving Kickapoo and helping the tribe attain energy budget certainty for many years to come," commented Ryan Segmond, Executive Vice President.
