Emeritus Senior Living "Free Rent" Talent Contest Winner Announced; Winner Donates Prize ($50,000 Value) to Neighbor in Need
Renowned Blind Musician, Played with Etta James and Tina Turner, Gives Local Senior Free Year's Stay at Emeritus at Laguna Creek
ELK GROVE, Calif., Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Non-profit organization 3in4 Association, its spokesperson Dr. Marion Somers, and Emeritus Senior Living today announced the winner of its national senior talent competition – who promptly donated his prize to a neighbor in need. Nat Brown, 73, competed against 300 seniors nationwide to win a year-long stay at an Emeritus senior living community – worth $50,000. 11 runners-up received week-long stays. A self-taught musician who lost his eyesight as a teenager and has played with Little Richard, Tina Turner and Etta James, Nat wanted to share his prize with someone truly deserving, so he donated it to a local senior with little family and few belongings.
"We will all be impacted by long-term care in some way. That's our message to Americans, and the message reinforced by Nat's incredible gesture," said Dr. Marion.
"Sharing this prize is what gives it real meaning," said Nat. "I know that Emeritus will provide dignity and respect in a caring environment for someone who needs it most."

Nat will perform, along with singer and contest runner-up Theda Jackson.
