DES PLAINES, Ill., June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Emergency Nurses Association today announced two Journal of Emergency Nursing (JEN) Award recipients, the JEN Reviewer of the Year Award and the JEN Author(s) of the Year Award.
The JEN Author(s) of the Year Award recognizes papers that contain timely ideas and content relevant to current emergency nursing practice, demonstrate original thinking and excellence in writing, and stimulate, inspire, and hold the readers' interest. JEN Editorial Board members nominated these papers and ranked them according to established criteria.
For their combined work on the study Understanding the Experience of Miscarriage in the Emergency Department, the JEN authors of the year are:
- Kate MacWilliams, MN, BScN
- Jean Hughes, PhD, RN
- Megan Aston, PhD, RN
- Simon Field, MD
- Faith Wight Moffatt, PhD, RN
The JEN Reviewer Award acknowledges the body of work of an individual reviewer who exemplified dependability, timeliness, knowledge about topics, and who provided in-depth, constructive feedback to authors on a consistent basis.
Exceeding the above criteria and more, the 2017 JEN Reviewer of the Year Award recipient is Darrell Spurlock, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, ANEF.

The Journal of Emergency Nursing Award recipients will be recognized throughout Emergency Nursing 2017 in St. Louis and at a reception on Friday, Sept. 15.
