Emergency Extension - Westmoreland County Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign $140,000 Short of Goal
CARNEGIE, Pa., May 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Although the deadline was set for last Friday, the Westmoreland County Red Shield Campaign has been extended through the end of this week. The $175,000 goal is $140,000 short and the situation is critical. More than 22,000 needy Westmoreland county residents sought assistance from The Salvation Army in 2009 and it is anticipated that the 2010 numbers will continue to spike.
"In 2009, we were blessed with a very significant gift from an anonymous donor that helped to put us over the top," said Major Mark Mackneer, The Salvation Army's Westmoreland County Coordinator. "This year, we are relying on many more modest contributions to help us to reach goal. Just like our red kettles, every little bit helps and we desperately need it."
