EMBASA expects to complete 80 percent of the Elster single-jet and multi-jet water meter deployments by the end of 2011. With more than 1.8 million installed water meters across its service region, the new Elster meters will help update EMBASA's infrastructure. Based on EMBASA's experience with Elster, the utility believes that the company's meters will deliver the performance required to accurately measure water usage, helping improve revenue generation and customer service.
SABESP, the largest water utility in Latin America with more than 6 million meters installed, will deploy plastic cover, 45-degree position single-jet meters. The utility expects to complete all installations by mid 2011. The new water meters will benefit customers and the utility by improving the measurement accuracy of water consumption.
"The SABESP and EMBASA deployments will strengthen Elster's leadership position in the Latin American water utilities market, by demonstrating the benefits of Elster meter solutions," said Jerry Lauzze, executive vice president of Elster's global water business. "Elster meters improve water flow measurement for industrial, residential and commercial applications, ensuring that utilities across the globe can better manage the delivery of one of our most vital natural resources."
Elster will work with both SABESP and EMBASA to ensure that the deployments meet each utility's business and customer needs.
