"As a leader in Smart Grid and advanced metering technology, Elster is well positioned to contribute to national conversations regarding energy, Smart Grid and economic policy. We appreciate the opportunity to offer our ideas on policies that incentivize investments in research, technology and manufacturing," said Mark Munday, chief technology officer of Elster Group.
At the invitation of the White House, John Bluth, Elster's senior vice president, investor relations and group communications, participated in the 'Insourcing American Jobs Forum' on Wednesday.
The event featured opening remarks from President Obama, followed by panel discussions chaired by U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson and Small Business Administration Administrator Karen Mills to identify actionable ideas for advancing jobs creation and stimulating U.S. investment.
Today, Munday participated in the Business Forward event, sponsored by the White House Business Council and Business Forward North Carolina. The event was designed to solicit ideas from North Carolina business leaders for strengthening U.S. global competitiveness.
"As a 175-year-old company founded in New York, I was pleased to represent Elster in these important discussions about creating economic policies that drive job growth in the United States," Munday said.
"With facilities across the United States, we have helped to drive innovation in America and the adoption of Smart Grid and advanced metering technology. And, as a major jobs provider in the U.S., we clearly have a stake in national policies that stimulate domestic job growth," Munday added.
Additionally, Elster hosted U.S. Representative David Price (D-NC) at its facilities in Raleigh this week. Rep. Price had the opportunity to meet with senior company leaders, tour the company's state-of-the-art Smart Meter facility and conduct a Town Hall session with Elster employees.
"I enjoyed the chance to meet with employees and learn about Elster's latest contributions to Smart Grid development, which has great potential to help consumers and communities realize energy savings," Rep. Price said.
"I am very encouraged to see innovative work in this industry being done right here in our community. It reinforces my belief that North Carolina is poised to lead in the 21st Century energy economy," Rep. Price added.
