RALEIGH, N.C. and RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Elster Solutions and DVI™, a Dominion Resources company, announced today that these leading providers of Smart Grid solutions are delivering three patented stackable answers for Elster's CallistoTM grid performance system.

Callisto has a stackable plug-and-play modularity, demonstrating an industry breakthrough designed to help utilities reduce their risk, reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and achieve the exact functionality desired. The monitoring and notification capabilities built into Callisto are designed for the ease of operation that utilities will want for all of their day-to-day activities.
In addition to the answers built into the Callisto base package, Elster partners such as DVI are integrating incremental, best-of breed into the suite of Callisto Stackable AnswersTM.
DVI's EDGE® solution is designed to transform energy information into energy conservation. The EDGE Planner stacks on Callisto at the Intelligence layer, calculating circuit-by-circuit savings potential, checking for errors and outliers, and enabling a continuous grid-improvement process.
The EDGE Manager and the EDGE Validator are pre-integrated at the Decision layer of Callisto. The EDGE Manager automatically optimizes customer voltage across the entire circuit without a detailed model, using customer voltage data collected by Callisto's meter data collection (MDC) capability. The EDGE Validator confirms energy savings, by measuring and tracking savings for each circuit, independent of the optimization process. It replaces the traditional 'on-off" methods to allow savings to continue during verification.
"We are excited to be able to introduce the EDGE grid efficiency program to a broad segment of utilities through our commitment to becoming significant stackable answers on Callisto core platform," said John Radgowski, DVI director-Product Development. "Dominion proved the value of voltage reduction through its early pilot with Elster's AMI solutions. We are proud to continue our successful association," he continued.
"DVI is the first of many partners to provide a stackable answer for Callisto. By working together, we can assure utilities that they are getting the best solutions in the industry," said Andrew Braun, Director of Strategic Alliances, Elster. "By ensuring a focus on specific challenges, Callisto delivers practical answers to specific problems."
Elster's Callisto grid performance system encourages utilities to apply answers at a pace and time that suits them and their budgets. This approach readily assures an attractive TCO, making for a better Return on Investment (ROI) experience.
