Elsevier Announces the Re-Launch of one of Germany's Oldest Medical Journals: ZEFQ - The Journal of Evidence and Quality in Health Care
BERLIN, February 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announces the re-launch of one of Germany's oldest medical journals: ZEFQ - The Journal of Evidence and Quality in Health Care as an international, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary and cross-professional journal.
ZEFQ was founded as Zeitschrift für ärztliche Fortbildung in 1904 in Jena, Germany, survived both world wars and was one of the most read medical journals of the former German Democratic Republic.
The new ZEFQ now actively encourages international submissions to provide the latest information on evidence-based medicine, quality and safety in health care. It will serve health practitioners, health care managers, researchers, policy-makers and methodologists who have an interest in evidence-based health care, health care quality improvement, patient safety and decision-making in health care.
Professor Dr. Gabriele Meyer (Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg) will be succeeding Professor Dr. Dr. Günter Ollenschläger in the role of Editor-in-Chief of ZEFQ. Professor Meyer said, "It's a great honor to be at the helm of the re-launched version of this long-established German publication that, without a doubt, has been the mouthpiece of evidence-based medicine and quality and safety in Germany. A team of internationally renowned scientists have been selected as Section Editors and an impressive affiliation list of key institutes and societies in the field will support me in my work as editor. We very much look forward to working with our authors and readers in developing what we hope will be recognized as a key reference for quality and evidence in healthcare also beyond Germany."
Helen Habernickel, Executive Publisher at Elsevier, said, "We are proud to re-launch ZEFQ and reach beyond its established German audience. Healthcare costs are rising worldwide, and we believe ZEFQ can make a significant contribution to addressing the challenges we all face. We look forward to developing ZEFQ with Professor Meyer, Co-Editor Professor Dr. med. Jürgen Windeler (Director of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care - IQWiG) and other leading researchers in the community, to help advance research, education and quality assurance."
The journal welcomes original research on all aspects of evidence and quality in health care, in addition to literature reviews, brief reports, and selected conference papers. ZEFQ publishes articles in both German and English.
The journal will appear ten times a year online and in print. The first issue of the re-launched ZEFQ can be read online free of charge at: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/18659217
