Elsevier Announces the Launch of Rhizosphere, a Multidisciplinary Journal on the Interactions Between Plant Roots, Soil Organisms, Nutrients, and Water
AMSTERDAM, March 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the launch of Rhizosphere, a multidisciplinary journal devoted to publishing research on the interactions between plant roots, soil organisms, nutrients, and water. This field of research has developed rapidly in the past years, and has the potential to contribute to important findings in soil ecology, crop science and plant science, contributing answers to major research questions in sustainability and agricultural development.
Rhizosphere will focus on papers that discuss how communications at the rhizosphere, with soil organisms and other plant species, affect root exudates and nutrient uptake. This rapidly evolving subject utilizes molecular biology and genomic tools, food web or community structure manipulations, high performance liquid chromatography, isotopic analysis, diverse spectroscopic analytics, tomography and other microscopy, complex statistical and modeling tools.
The journal will be under the editorship of: Editor-in-Chief Professor Sina Adl, University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and associate editors Professor Yakov Kuzyakov, Georg-August Universität Göttingen, Germany, and Dr. Xingliang Xu, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.
Discussing the new journal, Professor Adl commented: "Developments in synchrotron sciences, MALDI imaging, new imaging technology, and modern microfluidics are transforming how we study the rhizosphere to understand communications between soil ecology, root function and nutrient uptake. Coupled with genomics, molecular biology, and complex modelling we now have tools to explore the rhizosphere that were unimaginable fifteen years ago."
Field experiments, microcosm experiments, and soil-free research will be considered. Rhizosphere welcomes research papers, technical or method papers, reviews, and commentaries, and will also consider papers discussing informative negative results.
The first issue is scheduled to be published by the end of 2016. For more information and to submit an article, go to: http://www.journals.elsevier.com/rhizosphere.
