Elsevier Announces the Launch of a New Journal: Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism
OXFORD, England, September 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, recently announced the launch of the new journal, Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism (JORT).
The trend of societal changes in the on-going diversification of outdoor recreation activities, coupled with the continuous search for meaningful personal experiences and the social and environmental impact of these activities, contributed to the launch of Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. As outdoor recreation, nature-based tourism and ecotourism are becoming increasingly important considerations of land-use planning in many regions around the globe, JORT aims to provide a forum for the discussion of the dimensions involved in such decision making.
JORT publishes peer-reviewed, original research on all aspects of outdoor recreation planning and management, covering the entire spectrum of settings from wilderness to urban outdoor recreation opportunities. The journal is international in scope and attracts scholars from all parts of the world to facilitate the exchange of ideas. Accepted articles focus on any aspect of theory, methodology, or the concept of outdoor recreation research, planning or management. Interdisciplinary work is especially welcome and may be of a theoretical or a case study nature.
"Managers and planners of recreational ground often wonder what research findings can mean for practical use. To help provide answers to this, we are pleased to present a novel feature of JORT: each article will be accompanied by an executive summary, written by editors and/or authors, highlighting the possible practical implications of the research," explain Prof. Wolfgang Haider and Prof. Ulrike Pröbstl-Haider, Editors-in-Chief of Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism.
All articles published in the first three volumes of the journal available on ScienceDirect for free.
