Elsevier Announces New Editor-in-Chief for Materials Science and Engineering: A

Elsevier, a world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the appointment of Dr. Enrique J. Lavernia as Editor-in-Chief of Materials Science and Engineering: A. He has been a principal editor of the journal since 1998.
Dr. Lavernia is Dean and Distinguished Professor at the College of Engineering, University of California, Davis. He holds a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's Degree from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Lavernia is known for his research in the synthesis and mechanical behavior of nanostructured and multi-scale materials as well as for his work on fundamental phenomena underlying spray atomization and other powder processes for a broad range of structural materials, publishing 480 research papers and over 200 conference proceedings. He has been elected Fellow of ASM, ASME and AAAS and was recently named the ASM 2013 Edward DeMille Campbell Memorial Lecturer and honored with the 2013 ASM Gold Medal Award. In 2011, he was also named one of the Top 200 Influential Hispanics in Technology.
