Elsevier / MC Strategies Updates ICD-10 eBook on Education, Training and Announces Spring Schedule of Roadmap Releases
ATLANTA, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier encourages continued planning and preparation for key coding update
Elsevier/MC Strategies, a leader in providing eLearning solutions to more than 1,300 healthcare organizations, today announced its continued commitment to the ICD-10 transition and the introduction of a major revision to its eBook, "A Guide to Education and Training for ICD-10 Implementation". Elsevier also announced its upcoming Spring 2012 schedule of new Revenue Cycle eLearning releases, including the revised ICD-10 Readiness Assessment, Mosby's Medical Terminology 2.0, and the new EduCode Clinical Documentation Improvement Curriculum.
Elsevier developed its ICD-10 Roadmap to help healthcare organizations gradually and comprehensively prepare for the ICD-10 transition, with the right training at the right time. Despite the current implementation delay, Elsevier maintains that planning and education are still critical and that organizations should still work toward the October 2013 implementation date. With an extensive history in coding education, Elsevier offers invaluable insight to help make the ICD-10 transition a manageable one.
Elsevier understands the importance of training preparation and dual coding and continues to offer its current comprehensive ICD-9 EduCode coding curriculum, as well as ICD-10 education so one can access the education needed.
"We look forward to keeping our Revenue Cycle eLearning clients up-to-date on the latest information regarding the ICD-10 transition," said John Schrefer, President, Elsevier/MC Strategies. "These updates will improve the quality of education and contribute to the increased knowledge and overall success of our clients."
To assist in the continued development of educational plans for the entire organization, the updated eBook includes recommended training plans by job role and need. The in-depth training pathways identify specific Revenue Cycle eLearning courses, timing, and recommended hours, ensuring that organizations allot enough time for adequate training.
As part of the roadmap, Elsevier is introducing both new and revised curricula to further strengthen ICD-10 training.
The ICD-10 Assessment that has been offered since 2010 is being enhanced, offering 150 questions on topics such as pharmacology, documentation, medical terminology, and procedures. As with the previous version, the revised assessment will map to ICD-10 courses and provide rationale.
This spring will also see a rewrite of Mosby's Medical Terminology and the new EduCode Clinical Documentation Improvement curricula - providing critical training for the entire organization.
These releases will enable organizations to continue their training in the areas of foundational knowledge and documentation, which are integral to the success of transitioning to ICD-10. Additionally, Elsevier continues to provide its comprehensive EduCode ICD-9 education, allowing for continued staff training prior to the implementation date.
