HOUSTON, May 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Intellectual property law firm Sutton McAughan Deaver PLLC today announced the arrival of attorney Elizabeth W. King as a Principal. Elizabeth is a nationally recognized trademark attorney with over twenty years of experience practicing law, most of that time spent dedicated to all aspects of trademark protection and enforcement, including as an Examining Attorney with the United States Trademark Office.
Elizabeth represents a wide range of clients, from small businesses to multinational corporations. In addition to brand protection, Elizabeth also directs and formulates successful trademark theory and litigation strategy in intellectual property disputes.
"Elizabeth's extensive experience in trademark and trade dress protection will be a great asset to our practice," said founding Principal Mike Sutton. "We are very pleased that she has decided to bring her expertise to our firm."
Elizabeth is recognized as one of the top trademark attorneys in the United States and the world. World Trademark Review has included Elizabeth in its list of Top 1000 Trademark Practitioners Worldwide every year since the inception of the list in 2011. As stated by the World Trademark Review, "King is a former examining attorney who knows the ins and outs of US Patent and Trademark Office practice better than almost anyone; she is often called upon to provide expert testimony as a result."

Elizabeth is an associate member of the International Trademark Association and currently serves on the Trademark Reporter Committee. She previously served on the Trademark Office Practices Committee, PTO Subcommittee as well as the Non-Traditional Trademarks Committee. She is Vice President of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association and is a Barrister in the Honorable Nancy F. Atlas Intellectual Property American Inn of Court.
Elizabeth will be attending the 2015 Justice and Society Seminar hosted by the Aspen Institute in July. The Aspen Institute's Justice and Society Seminar, co-founded by the late Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun, brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds to discuss what is meant by justice and how a just society ought to structure its legal, judicial, and political institutions. Participation in the Seminar is by invitation only. According to the Aspen Institute: "Seminar participants are distinguished individuals chosen from a variety of fields who bring a wealth of personal and professional experience to the discussion."
