A canny combination of exhilarating pop, slamming beats and lyrical drama that was mixed by Grammy winner Manny Marroquin (Usher, Alicia Keys), "Diary" marks the first release on ELEVENTH RECORDS. The Pittsburgh-bred, L.A.-based Coury is the first artist signed to the indie label--distributed through Universal's Fontana--and will release his full-length debut album later in the year, for which he has collaborated with producer Alex Cantrall (Fantasia, Dru Hill, JoJo).
Shot in Los Angeles, the video for "Diary" was directed by the esteemed director Roman White, who has created videos for the biggest names in music today such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Bieber. The video premiered on Yahoo! Music and received over 37,000 hits, debuting at #15 in the first week alone. It can now be seen here: http://www.vevo.com/watch/tino-coury/diary/USC9J1090001.
Coury--now six weeks into an eight-week radio promo tour--is kicking off the summer with a performance at MixFest 2010 in San Antonio, TX on May 23. The show, put on by Top 40 station Mix 96.1, will take place at Hemisfair Park and also features Train, Kris Allen, Iyaz, White Tie Affair and Mayday Parade. For more information and tickets, visit: http://www.mix961.com/pages/mixfest2010.html. There will be many other radio performances throughout the summer.
"Diary" showcases not only Coury's urgent vocals and flair for sparkling hooks, but also the multi-instrumentalist's substantial production chops. "I started with a straight piano line as a loop," he recalls of the song's creation. "I had the lyrical concept, and the melody and the words started coming for the hook. I then started building the track adding the drums and synths--I wanted it to have a little bit of a club feel. When I write a song, I want a beat you can dance to, a great track–but also a story," adds Coury. "There has to be a heart to it."
Tino looks forward to taking his music directly to his fans and can't wait to get out there on the radio and summer tour circuit. Everyone should look forward to hearing more new great music from Tino in the coming months, but for now, ENJOY "Diary."
