Element Electronics: Reinvesting In American Jobs
Element Electronics investing in TV manufacturing with their new South Carolina factory opening in Q4 2013
WINNSBORO, S.C., Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Element Electronics proudly announces its plans to open a new flat screen TV factory in Winnsboro, SC. Production is scheduled to begin in December 2013 and updates to the facility are about to get underway. The aggressive project that will be targeting 500 new jobs is only possible because of commitments from Walmart and the State of South Carolina. With the support of its largest retail customer, Walmart, and leadership in South Carolina, Element Electronics is taking steps to accelerate its domestic manufacturing plans.
"Our goal has always been to produce great quality televisions at great prices. Producing them here, at home, has been our dream. Because of the cooperation of Walmart and Governor Haley of South Carolina; that dream is becoming a reality," said Mike O'Shaughnessy, Founder and President of Element Electronics.
"As an American company, we felt a responsibility to provide employment opportunities for American workers," explains O'Shaughnessy. "None of which would matter if we couldn't compete on price and quality... But we do on both counts."
Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $9 billion in capital investment and more than 26,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector. Adding Element Electronics became the mission of Governor Haley when she learned about the company after a Walmart Supplier Summit earlier in the year.
"We welcome Element Electronics to South Carolina's business community and celebrate the company's decision to invest $7.5 million and create 500 new jobs in Fairfield County. Today's announcement is another indication that we are doing the right things to attract job-creating investments here in South Carolina," said Gov. Nikki Haley.
"The partnership between South Carolina and Element Electronics came together in just a few short months demonstrating that American renewal in manufacturing is working to create jobs, drive investment and produce quality American made products for our customers," said Bill Simon, president and CEO, Walmart U.S. "Through collaboration with Element Electronics we have facilitated discussions at the state level to make their partnership a reality."
Element Electronics is proud to be working with Walmart and the State of South Carolina in the long-term plan for American job creation.
Element televisions are available at Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, Meijer and QVC.
