Elektrobit (EB) wins top award at Telematics Detroit 2014
EB wins Best Telematics Safety and Security Award for Driver Assistance Software Solutions Developed with Daimler
DETROIT, June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Elektrobit (EB) has been recognized with a top Telematics Update award for its help in the development of driver-assistance software for Daimler during the Telematics Detroit 2014 conference and exhibition (June 4-5) in the Detroit suburb of Novi, Michigan.
The award recognizes EB's long-standing expertise in the development of driver assistance software solutions that provide maximum safety, quality and performance. EB has supported Daimler in the development and implementation of driver assistance features since 2010. Driver-assistance systems by Daimler are focused on improving driver and passenger safety and comfort. They help detect pedestrians; initiate autonomous braking in case of emergencies; take corrective measures as soon as a vehicle leaves its lane, and help prevent drivers from falling asleep.
"The Best Telematics Safety and Security Award recognizes EB's leading role in the development of state-of-the-art driver-assistance software for systems that not only ensure maximum safety for drivers and passengers, but also represent milestones on the way to automated and autonomous driving," said Alexander Kocher, president of EB's Automotive Business. "Receiving this recognition from a jury of renowned industry experts at Telematics Update emphasizes the growing importance of integrated automotive software and EB's role in the development of industry-leading solutions for major carmakers worldwide."
Another winner was Audi AG for the Best Navigation Solution / Product Award. It recognizes Audi's state-of-the-art, intuitive infotainment and navigation solution, developed by e.solutions GmbH (jointly owned company of EB and Audi), showcased for the first time at CES 2014. The new virtual cockpit, to be introduced in the Audi TT this year, is a fully digital instrument cluster allowing an innovative, streamlined display of infotainment, car and navigation data that focuses on key information to reduce driver distraction.
EB's navigation and HMI software solutions have played a major role in the development of Audi's award-winning infotainment technology, including voice control, multi-touch gesture recognition and 3D map displays.
EB also was shortlisted for the 2013/2014 Industry Newcomer Award for its new Car Data Recorder and for the Telematics Leadership Award for Alexander Kocher, president of EB's Automotive Business.
