Elegant home in San Antonio's historic Monte Vista District set for auction
SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1922, Everett Love and his Italian bride retained the prominent firm of Adams & Adams to create a Mediterranean style home in what we now know as the Monte Vista historic district of San Antonio. The result was the elegant Villa Amore, which today has such features as a cigar room, billiard room, media room, and even a dine-in wine cellar.
And on Thursday, Sept. 7, the home will be offered in a live auction, with Albert Burney Auctioneers marketing the home and conducting the event.
"Monte Vista is an historical treasure chest, and this home is one of its most precious jewels," said Warren Ward, president of the auction company. The architectural firm had credits that included the famous King Ranch. (The story of the home is described in the 1988 book, Monte Vista, the gilded age of an historic district: 1890-1930, by Donald E. Everett.)
The meticulously landscaped three-story home features flooring of marble, hardwood and tile, with four bedrooms, three living areas, and a heated pool and cabana.
"The owners, Jennifer and Jimmy Day, who have decided to sell at auction, embarked on an eight-month renovation of the home in 2005. Jennifer is an ASID-certified interior designer, and they did a remarkable job while remaining true to the historical features of the home," said Ward.
Auction personnel will be available at the home by appointment only August 19-20 and August 26-27, or from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 1-7. Individuals seeking additional information may visit www.albertburney.com or call 800-434-1654.
