Electus International Signs Multiple Deals Securing Finished Tape And Local Series Commitments For Bet On Your Baby
NEW YORK, April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Multimedia studio Electus, an operating business of IAC (Nasdaq: IACI), today announced that its global distribution arm, Electus International, has licensed the format for Bet On Your Baby, its hit reality competition series, securing deals directly with broadcasters in Brazil (TV Globo), Australia (Network Ten), Ukraine (1+1) and France, as well as options to producers in Italy, Metronome in Norway, Tresor in Germany, Gil Productions in Israel and Endemol in India, Portugal, and Turkey. The finished tape has also been sold to Australia (Network Ten) and Latin America. Bet On Your Baby currently airs on Saturdays at 8 PM ET/PT (7 PM CT) on the ABC television network.
"We are blown away by the incredible reaction that we have received from the international market on Bet On Your Baby. To be able to license a title in over a dozen territories this quickly after MIP proves to us that the universal themes that have made the show a success in the U.S. will translate into success globally," said John Pollak, President of Electus International. "Bet On Your Baby is a universally family-friendly format that entertains and engages audiences of all ages and we are confident that it will follow in a long line of successful formats that we have launched internationally."
ABC's Bet On Your Baby, hosted by actress and comedienne Melissa Peterman, is a new primetime game show in which parents try to predict their child's next move in an effort to win money for their child's future education. Each episode of Bet On Your Baby features five memorable families with toddlers between the ages of two to three and a half years-old who will play to see how well they can guess their child's next move in the hopes of earning money towards their college fund. The game takes place on two stages - on one, a shiny game show studio with a cheering audience where one parent places a bet - and on the other, a parent takes the child to a play room called "The Babydome" where the child will determine the outcome of the game completely unaware of the stakes that are on the line. Each family plays a self-contained, individual challenge against the house - meaning they're only competing against themselves, and not against other families. At the end of the show, the five families return to play for the chance to advance to the final round--"Smash for Cash," where parents of one toddler will have 5 tries to hammer open piggy banks --one of which contains a $50,000 college fund.
The Bet On Your Baby format was created by 5x5 Media's Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk, Charles Wachter and Electus' Ben Silverman and Jimmy Fox. The series is executive produced by Electus (Ben Silverman, Chris Grant, Jimmy Fox) and 5x5 Media (Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk).
