Electrolux Washers Earn #1 Ranking in Energy Efficiency by EPA
-- Premium Appliance Maker Once Again Recognized for its Commitment and Dedication to Energy Efficiency --
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Electrolux premium laundry collection was awarded the number one ranking in energy efficiency among ENERGY STAR® qualified clothes washers. The ranking, issued by ENERGY STAR, the joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, takes into account the energy used to run the washer, heat the water and run the dryer, and the water efficiency. The #1 ranking affirms Electrolux's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
"As a proud ENERGY STAR partner, Electrolux is committed to bringing consumers energy-efficient appliances with uncompromising design, functionality and quality," said Kevin Scott, President of Electrolux Major Appliances, North America. "With the Electrolux premium laundry collection, caring for clothes has never been faster, easier – or more efficient."
Boasting the largest capacity washer and dryer that wash and dry the most clothes in one load(1), the fastest wash-to-dry time(2) (a scant 29 minutes – 15 minute wash cycle, 14 minute dry cycle(2)) and eco-friendly washers that are up to 161% more energy-efficient(3) and use 63% less water(4), the Electrolux laundry collection is aimed at revolutionizing the way Americans wash – and dry – their clothes. New Perfect Steam™ Washers let you add steam to select wash cycles to gently deep clean clothes for whiter whites, better stain removal and less wrinkles. What's more, the ENERGY STAR qualified collection offers vibrant designer colors, including Red Hot Red, Turquoise Sky, Mediterranean Blue, Silver Sands and Island White, to inject today's laundry rooms with an energizing sense of style.
Electrolux's premium collection of kitchen and laundry appliances includes ENERGY STAR qualified appliances in every product category, where applicable, offering a wide variety of sleek and stylish appliances that are at least 20% more energy-efficient than non-ENERGY STAR qualified appliances. Like dishwashers that use at least 41% less energy and 40% less water than was used just 10 years ago. In fact, Electrolux dishwashers use five gallons of water per load versus 27 gallons for hand washing – a savings of nearly 70,000 gallons of water over the life of the appliance. In addition, Electrolux is the leader in induction cooking technologies which are significantly more energy efficient than gas and electric cooking methods. The Electrolux Induction Hybrid cooktop boosts energy efficiency 73% over comparable gas models and 22% over electric models.
Electrolux applies this commitment to efficiency to production and business operations as well. As part of its initiative of advancements toward environmentally-conscious production and operation, Electrolux has decided that by the end of 2012, its factories, offices and warehouses will use 15% less energy than in 2008. Also, Electrolux is the only major household appliance company included in the most recent Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and has also made significant packaging improvements to enhance the efficiency of transporting products.
The entire Electrolux line of stylishly-designed appliances, which boast a distinctive curved-front design, signature blue LEDs electronic controls and first-in-class features is available nationwide through select independent appliance dealers and at Best Buy, Lowe's and Sears.
