Electrolux Celebrates Investment in its Springfield, TN Manufacturing Facility
Company makes $220,000 community gift in Springfield and Clarksville
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn., June 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Electrolux today announced that it is further investing in its Springfield, Tenn. manufacturing facility. The $20 million capital investment follows a $25 million investment announced last year. The company will increase efficiency and simplify its manufacturing operations. Construction will begin this summer.
"Our Springfield facility has long been an important part of our company's overall success," said Mike Longe, Electrolux Springfield plant manager. "This investment will help ensure that we remain a strong Springfield employer and a competitive appliance manufacturer."
To celebrate this investment, Electrolux is helping fight hunger in the Springfield and Clarksville communities.
A recent Feeding America survey found that 1 in 7 Tennessee residents have unreliable access to affordable and nutritious food.* Today, Electrolux donated a truckload of more than 40 commercial-grade kitchen appliances to the Robertson County and Clarksville region United Way agencies for distribution and use in local soup kitchens, pantries, schools and other organizations serving food to families in need.
The donation, valued at nearly $200,000, includes chest freezers, refrigerators, milk coolers and more. Beneficiaries of the donation include United Ministries Food Bank, YMCA, the Robertson County Board of Education, Beauty for Ashes, and more. Electrolux also provided more than 6,600 backpacks full of food, valued at $20,000, to TN Kids Nutrition for distribution to local children who would otherwise go hungry during the weekend.
"Electrolux is one of the leading employers in our community. They give back in countless acts of generosity and are truly a corporate partner in moving our community forward. We are excited and appreciative that the company is continuing to invest in Robertson County," said Robertson County Mayor Howard Bradley.
"Electrolux has played an important role in our community for over 40 years," said Springfield Mayor Ann Schneider. "They are a valued employer and partner and this investment shows their commitment to Springfield and our residents."
"Summer break is here and our area children will struggle to find enough to eat now that school is out. Electrolux' donation couldn't have come at a better time," said, Donny King, executive director of TNKids Nutrition, Inc. "Because of Electrolux and their employees, more children will have nutritious food this summer."
