Electrolux Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Kinston Dishwasher Plant
NC Gov. Pat McCrory, Electrolux honor 32 employees who have worked at plant since inception
KINSTON, N.C., Oct. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Electrolux today commemorated the 25th anniversary of its Kinston, NC dishwasher plant with a special celebration event for employees and their families. Thirty-two of the plant's employees, who have worked there since the plant opened its doors in 1989, were recognized for their contributions and dedication to the plant's success.
Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America, was joined by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, along with Electrolux employees and their families to celebrate the dishwasher plant's milestone anniversary.
"We take great pride in celebrating the 25th anniversary of our Kinston plant and are thankful to our outstanding employees – particularly the 32 employees who have been with us since the beginning – for helping to make this plant a success," said Truong. "We also want to thank the community for their long-standing support and to thank our 15 NC suppliers who have worked with us diligently during these years."
"The Kinston dishwasher plant has made a tremendous impact not only on the city of Kinston but the entire state of North Carolina," said Governor Pat McCrory. "I am very appreciative of the hard work and dedication of the Kinston plant employees who have made this venture such a success. I am honored to be part of their 25th Anniversary celebration."
The nearly 463,000-square-foot plant produces 24-inch plastic tub dishwashers. It employs more than 600 full time and contract employees and, most notably, introduced the industry-leading Frigidaire Gallery Orbit Clean ™ Dishwasher in 2012. The Orbit Clean dishwasher was recognized by consumer-trusted outlet Reviewed.com as the Best of Year Dishwasher Innovation earlier this year.
In honor of the occasion, Electrolux announced a gift to the community: new Frigidaire Gallery kitchen appliances for each of the public high schools in Lenoir County. The donation, which has a retail value of more than $20,000, includes refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, chest freezers, and Kinston-made dishwashers, and ensures hundreds of high school students each year have fully operational appliances to use in Family Consumer Science courses. The courses teach both job-readiness skills and life skills.
All employees and their families were invited to the celebration, which included music, games, raffle prizes and inflatables for children. A barbecue lunch was provided and tours of the plant took place throughout the day.
Electrolux currently employs 1,500 people across North Carolina. The company headquarters is based in Charlotte and a parts distribution center is located in Asheville.
Twenty-five year veterans of the plant include:
