ElectionDayTeaParty.com Launches 'Cash-for-Candidates'
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- ElectionDayTeaParty.com today announced a ground-breaking fundraising drive called Cash-for-Candidates. The program kicks off at noon Tuesday, October 12 and ends at midnight Wednesday, October 13. Over the course of 36 hours, conservatives are encouraged to visit www.electiondayteaparty.com and contribute directly to one or all Election Day Tea Party Top 50 Congressional candidates.
"The founding premise of the Cash-for-Candidates drive is that - just like Election Day Tea Party - we are putting people in touch with the campaigns themselves," said Lorie Medina, a co-organizer of the project.
"This is what makes Cash-for-Candidates different from every other fundraising effort up to this point. We are not bundling or aggregating donations; contributions don't end up in a PAC somewhere for someone else to determine where to put it. In pure Tea Party form, it is up to the individual donor to decide which campaigns to support."
"Cash-for-Candidates gives people an easy way to help these 50 deserving challengers. To donate to one or all of these 50 challengers, simply go to the http://www.electiondayteaparty.com website and click on the dollar sign image next to the challenger," said Michael Patrick Leahy, a co-organizer of the project.
The Election Day Tea Party project was launched last month by the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, in partnership with former United States Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton. The project's website, ElectionDayTeaParty.com, identifies the 50 contests for seats in the House of Representatives where an individual's efforts can help the challengers win their elections on November 2, 2010. The seats in all 50 of these races are currently held by members of Congress who have supported the Obama-Pelosi agenda.
Election Day Tea Party focuses on these 50 races in the House of Representatives because the project organizers believe that gaining the majority in the House is the beginning of the process of returning the country to the founding principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and constitutional adherence.
ElectionDayTeaParty.com represents another organizational and technological innovation in the Tea Party movement's decentralized approach to political engagement.
