Mayor Quan, Supervisor Carson, State Assembly members and Senators to Attend Fresh Start Event
OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- This Saturday, Oakland area elected officials will be joining community members at the Fresh Start Community Festival sponsored by SEIU United Long Term Care Workers (ULTCW). The focus of the daylong festival is to provide families with the break they need and to ensure that children have the supplies necessary as they head back to school. The FREE festival will include entertainment for the entire family, a specific Kid-Zone area, FREE backpacks and school supplies for children 5-15 years old, FREE haircuts for boys and nail painting for girls, FREE health screenings for all participants, and of course being that it's close to Labor Day Weekend, a FREE picnic-style lunch.

- FREE haircuts for boys and manicures for girls
- FREE picnic-style lunch for all attendees
- Games, activities and entertainment for different age groups
- Performances by Alphabet Rockers, Martin Luther, Cubia Tokeson, Red Panda Acrobats and DJ CJ Flash.
- Opportunities to learn about services available from community-based organizations
