OLATHE, Kan., Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Elecsys Corporation (NASDAQ: ESYS), a provider of innovative machine to machine (M2M) communication technology solutions, data acquisition systems, and custom electronic equipment for critical industrial applications worldwide, today announced the completion of DNP3 Self-Test Certification for the "Director Data Communication Gateway" device.
Elecsys has certified the Director industrial data communication systems for DNP3 compliance. DNP3 is an essential data communication protocol for industrial data network applications in the power generation, transmission, and smart-grid sectors of the electrical power industry. The Director functions as an RTU, a protocol converter, data communication gateway, and bandwidth management tool in industrial M2M networks. It is widely used for M2M communications in the oil and gas pipeline industry. The addition of the DNP3 protocol extends the application capability into every segment of the electrical power grid system.
The DNP3 protocol facilitates data communication between data networks, allowing automation of load balancing and transmission efficiency across wide areas of the power grid.
