"We structured a blend of traditional venture capital and crowdfunding for this new online TV start-up," said Levin. "It's time for ordinary accredited investors to have the same opportunities as those on Wall Street and Silicon Valley," he stated.
Elation's raise-up is currently featured on crowdfunding platform EquityNet.com.
"I'm honored and delighted that Bob Schnitzer (Elation's CEO) and Jerry Levin selected me for this exciting venture," Haber said. "Jerry's background as CEO of HBO and chairman/CEO of Time Warner brings experience and vision to Elation Media that's hard to replicate."
Elation Media owns and operates two consumer media brands: OTV Live, a 24/7 live linear channel, and OTV On Demand. "Both services deliver exclusive body-mind news, cutting edge information and enlightened entertainment online, on Pay TV systems and mobile devices worldwide," said Levin. "In other words, wherever there's a screen, we'll be on it."
Most of Haber's previous financing were project-oriented assignments, such as motion picture production, so for Haber, "the idea of funding for an ongoing enterprise was a refreshing change. I'm certainly not your typical holistic consumer, but I can see this service being profitable for decades to come." Haber smiled, "Guess it's time to throw out the hot dogs and start baking tofu."
Elation Media connects advertisers and brands with the highly engaged holistic consumer market, often referred to as the so-called LOHAS market. Programming topics include holistic health, personal growth, world peace and the environment, all within news, information and entertainment formats.
The company is based in Jackson, Mississippi and maintains a Century City office in Los Angeles, California. Haber will work out of Elation's new satellite office in New York, which the company will be announcing on July 1st. The company's website is ElationMedia.com.
Schnitzer and Haber had worked together on various movie and TV projects in the past. Schnitzer recommended Haber's engagement to the Elation board without reservation. "Having witnessed Larry's work ethic, integrity and equal comfort with people and numbers made him a natural choice for this assignment," said Schnitzer, adding "Jerry (Levin) and I couldn't be more pleased that he's accepted it."
