GREENFIELD, Ind., Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY), will celebrate its 10th year of giving back to local communities around the world during Global Day of Service on Thursday, Sept. 28. Day of Service is one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer programs in the world.
Each year, Elanco joins forces with our parent company, Lilly, to dedicate a full day to volunteering in our communities, called the Global Day of Service. More than half of Elanco's nearly 6,500 employees will volunteer at one of 240 global projects throughout 40 countries around the world. This year, we will celebrate the 10 years of impact to our local communities by volunteering in local food pantries, soup kitchens, at pet therapy organizations and local animal shelters.
"Today is about serving to our communities," said Julie Lawless, senior director for Elanco Corporate Affairs at Elanco. "Thousands of our global colleagues are working side-by-side today to demonstrate our vision of Food and Companionship Enriching Life. It's a special day for us to positively impact those in need, particularly in the areas of hunger and companionship."
Last year, more than 3,000 of our 6,500 Elanco employees, participated in Global Day of Service volunteer projects in our local communities, providing more than 11,000 service hours. Giving back to local communities has been part of Lilly's heritage for more than 140 years. Global Day of Service is yet another way we enrich lives for people around the world.
The Elanco Corporate Social Responsibility Impact Report provides samples – including Global Day of Service – across our priorities of employee engagement, community and customer engagement and sustainable development.
