El Paso ISD Enrolls 40,000 Students Online with the Initial Launch of TEAMS™ Online Student Registration & Enrollment System

AUSTIN, Texas, April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Prologic Technology Systems, Inc. just released the first-year results from El Paso ISD's transition to online enrollment using TEAMS™ Online Student Registration & Enrollment System. The district successfully enrolled two-thirds of its student population online during the initial phase of the implementation. El Paso ISD (EPISD) will continue their rollout this year by conducting a series of computer literacy classes for parents, to support the remaining student families.  According to Stephen Stiles, EPISD Chief Technology Officer, "We believe 40,000 online enrollments in the first year is a significant milestone for the district. The response from parents has been overwhelmingly positive."

Going paperless with TEAMS online student registration eliminates the need for EPISD school staff to spend hours gathering hundreds of papers into packets for families to complete, which can be misplaced or returned late – potentially delaying enrollment capture. With TEAMS there are no processing delays; administrators have real-time access to the most recent student information, including headcount, emergency contact information and student allergies.

Much of the data in the registration system is automatically validated as it is entered into the system, including verification that the address falls within the boundaries of district campuses and that there is no other student in the system using the same social security number. This is unique to TEAMS and goes a long way to improve data integrity, which is essential to districts.

TEAMS is equipped with many built-in tools providing tremendous flexibility, especially when creating forms to collect data from parents; and selecting which data fields need to be captured in the database. "The brilliant part of this system's design was the decision to give us templates for building our own forms," stated Stiles. "We're getting ready to create a new form for identifying free and reduced lunch. This may take us a day or so at most; compare that to what it would take if we had to go to the vendor each time we needed a new form," concluded Stiles. The system also has language localization which will automatically adapt forms to the preferred user language.

TEAMS' true advantage, when compared to stand-alone programs, is the tight integration it has with all other components within the system. "There is a considerable cost advantage when you look at an integrated system.  Any time you can start with a pretty good base of data and add to it, life is much easier. Trying to transfer data from third party software is always a headache," noted Stiles.  

El Paso ISD has been using the TEAMS Student Information System for the past five years, and recently added Financial Management System for an end-to-end solution.
