El Frente Wins 5® Gum 'Vive Tu Musica With 5™' Battle of the Bands
Five finalist bands share the stage with Belanova at the Grand Finale Concert on LATV
CHICAGO, Aug. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 5® gum announced yesterday that El Frente, a band originally from Boston, won top honors at this year's Vive Tu Musica With 5™ gum Grand Finale competition which aired last night on LATV. The third annual talent search culminated after five finalist bands competed in the Vive Tu Musica with 5 reality show where they participated in a series of music industry-related challenges for a spot in the finale concert. The bands were chosen following a recruitment phase in the spring of 2011 in which unsigned rock and pop-star hopefuls auditioned in several cities of the country and submitted videos on-line for voting.

As part of the reality show's last challenge, all five finalist bands performed in a LIVE concert before a panel of industry and celebrity judges that included Mexican pop sensation, Belanova, Grammy-nominated Mexican singer, Cristian Castro, American songwriter A.B. Quintanilla and Billboard's executive editor of Latin content and programming, Leila Cobo.
The reality show and final battle of the bands was hosted by actress and singer T Lopez and, surprise co-host, Aneudy Lara, lead singer from Local34, winner of Vive Tu Musica With 5 in 2010. Belanova headlined the grand finale concert for Vive Tu Musica With 5, with a performance by radio show host DJ Alexx Tercero at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles on August 9.
"It's an absolute pleasure to announce that El Frente is the winning band from the 2011 Vive Tu Musica With 5 gum music battle," said Juan Carlos Davila, Wrigley's U.S. Multicultural Marketing Director. "This year's competition was bigger than ever, and we're thrilled to be able to work with some of the top emerging talent across the music industry. The most exciting part will be to follow El Frente and see what the band accomplishes next."
As part of the grand prize, the winning band will receive a private professional photo shoot, new music equipment and the opportunity to shoot their own LATV feature episode within the "En Concierto" program.
In 2010, the Miami-based band Local34, known for their tropical-accented pop/rock style, took home the contest grand prize. The band competition was followed by performances by the Mexican pop band Reik and Daddy Yankee.
