More than 1 million people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from a blood cancer. Every four minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood a cancer, and every ten minutes someone dies. LLS's mission is to better these statistics by curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
"The EHE International window display at Rockefeller Center provides an incredible opportunity to increase the public's understanding of LLS and the resources available for blood cancer patients and their families," said Michele Przypyszny, Executive Director of LLS New York City Chapter.
"EHE International wholeheartedly supports non-profit health organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are happy to share the opportunity for a big presence in Rockefeller Plaza with them. Together we hope to inform, educate and raise awareness about blood cancers. EHE International and LLS encourage everyone to act upon any signs or symptoms they might discover," said Deborah McKeever, President of EHE International.
Since its inception in 1949, LLS has invested more than $814 million in research to find cures and better therapies. Through its patient services programs, LLS offers a comprehensive array of education and support services to blood cancer patients and their families. Remarkable progress has been made in treating patients with blood cancers, with survival rates for many having doubled or tripled, and in some cases quadrupled since LLS was founded.
