EHE International and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Showcase Advances in Blood Cancer Research and Patient Access in the Heart of Manhattan
NEW YORK, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EHE International has teamed up with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to shine a spotlight on blood cancers this July. For the entire month, the highly visible EHE International window at 10 Rockefeller Center will feature LLS's "Someday is Today" brand platform, including a 60-second video showcasing advances in funding lifesaving blood cancer research and access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
Statistics show more than 1 million people in North America are living with, or are in remission from a blood cancer. Approximately every four minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood a cancer, and every 10 minutes someone dies.
"The EHE International window display at Rockefeller Center helps LLS shine the spotlight on the urgency of finding cures for blood cancer patients and our impact on saving lives," explains John Walter, LLS chief executive officer. "LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments, and to advance more breakthrough therapies for patients with blood cancers. People talk about curing cancer at some point in the future. But, for LLS, someday is today. "
Since its inception in 1949, LLS has invested more than $875 million in research to advance therapies and saves lives. LLS offers a comprehensive array of education and support services for blood cancer patients and their families, and as the voice for all blood cancer patients works to ensure access to treatments for all cancer patients. Survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since 1960, thanks in large part to LLS funding. But despite these advances, about half of blood cancer patients do not survive so more funding is needed to advance research.
"In our continuous effort to help many organizations that focus on prevention and early detection, EHE International is delighted to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in raising awareness for blood cancers. We encourage everyone to visit the window at Rockefeller Center," said Deborah McKeever, President of EHE International.
